Choose the route by your starting point and overnight base. The Royal Heart suits a Stirling base; the east coast and Skye plans work as journeys between towns.

ROUTE FIRST · CHECKLIST LAST
Three castle routes
that actually work.
THE EDITORIAL METHOD
A good route leaves
room for Scotland.
These journeys favour geographic logic over maximum castle count. Each one has a clear anchor, shorter supporting stops and enough slack for weather, food, photography and the road itself.
Reserve the main ticketed visit first. Keep viewpoint stops flexible and use the live directions links to check transfers before confirming accommodation.
The daily visit times exclude driving, parking, walking and meals. Shorten a day by dropping an optional stop rather than reducing every castle to a quick photograph.
THREE PRACTICAL JOURNEYS
Follow the geography,
not the pin count.
